Montessori Children's House of Hayward provides a small and academically
excellent early elementary program with a warm and supportive atmosphere for the
three most important years of your child's elementary life. Montessori
classrooms are commonly referred to as a prepared environment. This name
reflects the care and attention that is given to creating a learning environment
that will reinforce the children's independence and intellectual development.
Freedom is a critical issue as children begin their journey of discovery. Our
goal is less to teach them facts and concepts, but rather to help them fall in
love with the process of focusing their complete attention on something and
solving its riddle with enthusiasm. |
Homework begins in late September and is assigned Monday through Thursday. The
homework consists of reading group assignments, spelling, and the Math Homework
book. If your child is enrolled in the afternoon Child Care program, he or she
does homework directly after class in the "Homework Club." The Homework Club
offers a quiet environment for 30 to 45 minutes, with teacher help available.
Each classroom has different expectations for the parents' role in the homework
process. You will receive written notice of these expectations from your child's
teacher at Back to School Night.

Our mission is to provide a small, individualized, early elementary program
based on the Montessori Method of teaching whereby a child can gain the basic
skills of language and math, as well as be enriched by studies in geography,
zoology, botany and history. This program of basic skills and cultural
enrichment is designed to make the child a lifelong learner. |
